Healthy Pet Products earned a spot in our 2022-23 America’s Coolest lineup. There are three locations in Pittsburg, PA, and one in Port Charlotte, FL.

Toni Shelaske was a customer at Healthy Pet Products before she purchased the original store in 2008.

Her focus on raw and other healthy foods have made the store a valued source of pet nutrition advice and recommended products in the community.

The Cranberry Township location has an eight-door freezer, with the products within making up 14% of the store’s food sales.

Bo and Desoto, Shelaske’s dogs, serve as brand ambassadors for Healthy Pet Products.

Food and treats, among other criteria, must be free of wheat, corn, soy, chemical preservatives, food coloring, and sugars of any kind to be sold in Shelaske’s stores.

Shelaske chose colors for her brand that reflect its mission: green, orange and yellow pulled from nature. The colors pop within the stores, complemented by light wood fixtures and playful exterior and interior signage.

Pets celebrating birthday and gotcha days have plenty of products to choose from.

As well as a wide range of toys.

Among them are a toy line that honors the store’s home city of Pittsburgh: the Pittsburgh Pierogi, a food staple in the city; Pittsburgh Bridge, representing its 446 bridges; and 412 Pittsburgh, a shout-out to the area code.

A collar featuring the Pittsburgh skyline also is available.

Pets can also pose on holiday sets to celebrate.

The Cranberry Township also offers grooming and self-wash for dogs. Read more about Healthy Pet Products in this America’s Coolest profile.
