8 Pet Businesses Rank on Entrepreneur’s Franchise 500

Eight pet companies earned slots on Entrepreneur magazine’s 2019 Franchise 500 list.

The franchisors and their rankings are:

  • Pet Supplies Plus (46)
  • Wild Birds Unlimited (132)
  • Petland (168)
  • Camp Bow Wow (193)
  • Dogtopia (204)
  • Wag N’ Wash Natural Food & Bakery (361)
  • Earthwise Pet (456)
  • Aussie Pet Mobile (478)

Of the 4,500 active franchisors in North America, more than 1,000 applied for the 40th-annual ranking.

The magazine ranks franchises in five areas: costs and fees; size and growth; franchise support; brand strength; and financial strength and stability.

“Those that rose to the top reveal the latest trends as well as the companies that continue to evolve to keep going strong year after year,” read a statement issued by the magazine.

The top franchise overall: McDonald’s. In fact, restaurant chains filled the top four slots, with Dunkin’, Sonic Drive-In and Taco Bell landing at Nos. 2, 3 and 4, respectively. The UPS Store ranked No. 5.
