(PRESS RELEASE) OGDEN, UT – American Nutrition, a family-owned pet food manufacturer for branded companies and retailers, announced the release of its latest guide, “Pet Food Safety: Going Above & Beyond Common Safety Practices.”

The guide, which is available for download here, provides pet food brands, retailers and manufacturers with insight on what defines a high-quality food safety program – including regulations around traceability, recall preparedness and environmental monitoring.

“Ensuring food safety is a non-negotiable,” said Steve Mills, SVP of customer brands and co-manufacturing, American Nutrition. “The safety of our pets’ food is of utmost importance and pet parents are paying closer attention to what is going into the production of that food – and insisting on the highest of standards – than ever before. We are happy to share our knowledge with our peers in the industry with this guide and in continuing the conversation about how we can all ensure a quality, safe product that meets the needs of both consumers and the regulators simultaneously.”

NASC Media Spotlight

At first it was just an idea: Animal supplements needed the same quality control that human-grade supplements receive. But that was enough to start a movement and an organization —the National Animal Supplement Council — that would be dedicated to establishing a comprehensive path forward for the animal supplements industry. In this Media Spotlight interview, NASC’s president, Bill Bookout, talks to PETS+ interviewer Chloe DiVita about the industry today: Where it’s headed, what’s the latest focus and why it’s vital to gain the involvement of independent pet product retailers.
