JFK Airport Adding $65M Animal Center

‘Pawdicures’ and other posh services will be offered.

Kennedy International Airport in New York is adding a series of posh pet services in a center called the Ark at JFK.

The 80,000-square-foot center is being opened in phases and will feature services such as “‘pawdicures’ for dogs, fancy stalls for racehorses and quarantined lodgings for sick birds,” the New York Times reports.

One feature of the center is the Pet Oasis for animals that are traveling. Pets can get a full array of care, from basic feeding and watering to more extensive pampering, including grooming, walking and play.

A 150-suite pet resort called Paradise 4 Paws is also set to open this year. One of the highlights: “a bone-shaped splashing pool for dogs,” according to the Times.

The $65 million Ark will have veterinary services, with providers performing quarantine and other services that are required by federal law.
