(PRESS RELEASE) EASTON, PA – Phillips Pet Food & Supplies will expand its distribution of ZuPreem nutrition for birds, small animals and zoo animals. ZuPreem’s line of products will be available to retailers, veterinary clinics and zoos served by Phillips’ Plant City, Florida, and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, distribution centers on January 15 and its Spartanburg, South Carolina, distribution center on February 1.

ZuPreem provides optimal nutrition and healthy feeding programs for companion birds, ferrets and other small animals. The company also offers zoological diets for birds, exotics, felines, omnivores and primates.

ZuPreem works with veterinarians and nutritionists to develop diets to keep animals healthy. One example of ZuPreem’s pet products is its bird food pellet line with essential nutrients, which are marketed as an alternative to less-nutritious seeds.

“ZuPreem’s premium products and commitment to improving the lives of animals through nutrition follow the industry trend of consumers trading up to higher quality, more nutritious diets,” says Elizabeth Thibodeau, vice president, merchandising & marketing for Phillips Pet Food & Supplies. “Phillips differentiates its bird food assortment with ZuPreem’s unique bird food pellets, which provide an alternative to traditional bird seed diets, and our organization is pleased to expand our partnership with this growing brand.”

NASC Media Spotlight

At first it was just an idea: Animal supplements needed the same quality control that human-grade supplements receive. But that was enough to start a movement and an organization —the National Animal Supplement Council — that would be dedicated to establishing a comprehensive path forward for the animal supplements industry. In this Media Spotlight interview, NASC’s president, Bill Bookout, talks to PETS+ interviewer Chloe DiVita about the industry today: Where it’s headed, what’s the latest focus and why it’s vital to gain the involvement of independent pet product retailers.
