(PRESS RELEASE) PARSIPPANY, NJ and LOS ANGELES, CA –  Two of the U.S.’s leading names in the pet industry, Adopt a Pet and Zoetis, are teaming up to improve access to care for shelter pets, as well as to deploy educational resources for shelter veterinary healthcare teams and pet owners across the country.

“At Zoetis, our purpose is to nurture our world and humankind by advancing care for animals, and this expanded partnership with Adopt a Pet underscores the heart of what we do: providing better health outcomes for pets that strengthen the powerful bond people share with them, said Ester Banque, executive vice president and president, U.S. Operations, Zoetis. “When pets get a healthy start in the shelter, we know that health and wellbeing transfers to their adoptive families, allowing the human-animal bond to thrive and create strong, safe and more connected communities.”

Over the last 20 years, Adopt a Pet has enabled over 223,000 pet adoptions and built a vast network of more than 17,000 animal shelters and rescues, all serving families and homeless pets in local communities. Coupled with the Zoetis portfolio of medicines, vaccines, and other resources, the organizations will collaborate for a second year to expand support for more than 3.5 million animals by developing and implementing:

  • Product grant programs benefitting shelters/rescues within Adopt a Pet’s network as well as underserved communities;
  • Educational health and lifestyle resources for both shelter staff and pet owners;
  • Custom product offerings for both shelters and adoptive pet owners.

“Having a partner like Zoetis gives us the ability to bring science-based healthcare solutions to our trusted network of shelters, rescues, veterinarians and pet health experts,” said Jeannine Taaffe, CEO at Adopt a Pet. “We not only want to improve health and wellbeing for pets, but we want to provide education and resources to pet owners and shelter staff/volunteers who are caring for pets in their adoption/rescue journey. Together, we can bring greater awareness to the health needs of pets and ultimately ensure they are set up for success with their adoptive families who will love them unconditionally.”
