(PRESS RELEASE) Andis Company, a leader in the grooming tools industry, has announced the launch of its 2019 Hearts & Paws Award — an award focused on recognizing grooming professionals who show animals the best side of humanity through their volunteer work with local shelters.

“We know groomers go above and beyond because of their compassion and love for animals,” said Nicole Kallish, manager of Education-Animal for Andis. “We share those values and want to show our appreciation for the passion and hard work grooming professionals put into caring for shelter pets so they can find their forever homes.”

Andis will donate $2,000 to the winner’s local shelter or pet organization of its choice. The Hearts & Paws award recipient will also receive an Andis grooming kit (valued at $1,200).

To decide the winner of the Hearts & Paws Award, Andis will host a contest on its animal social media channels. Anyone can nominate a deserving volunteer by posting to social media with the hashtags #HeartsAndPaws2019 & #AndisGrooming.

Andis is accepting nominations until June 30. Andis will select finalists by July 15, and the public can vote on those finalists via the Andis Grooming Facebook page Hearts and Paws tab from July 15 to Aug. 19. Andis will announce the winner of the Hearts & Paws Award on Monday, Aug. 26, 2019.

Follow the Hearts & Paws Award nomination guidelines to enter your favorite grooming professional into the contest today! Full nomination guidelines may be found here.

NASC Media Spotlight

At first it was just an idea: Animal supplements needed the same quality control that human-grade supplements receive. But that was enough to start a movement and an organization —the National Animal Supplement Council — that would be dedicated to establishing a comprehensive path forward for the animal supplements industry. In this Media Spotlight interview, NASC’s president, Bill Bookout, talks to PETS+ interviewer Chloe DiVita about the industry today: Where it’s headed, what’s the latest focus and why it’s vital to gain the involvement of independent pet product retailers.
