Bow Wow Labs Appoints Phillip Cooper as VP of Business Development

(PRESS RELEASE) With a mission to keep dogs safe and healthy through innovative products, Bow Wow Labs has appointed Phillip Cooper as vice president of business development. Cooper will work help create new strategic client partnerships and continue to consult clients on their marketing efforts.

“I have seen few new pet industry companies with such an impressive team of talented people, with such great new innovative products and with the vision and drive to be successful,” Cooper says. “Having the opportunity to use my marketing mindset and industry expertise will help take their brands to the next level of success.”

With more than 40 years in the pet industry, Cooper has been a retailer, a distributor salesperson, a manufacturer (large and small) and pet distributor in Australia. He has owned his own sales rep agency, imported, exported and hastraveled the world meeting all of the major movers and shakers. As a shareholder of Pets International, Cooper lived in Australia for five years. He’s been a board member of corporations and associations. Today, he is considered a pet industry expert and shares his experience and business knowledge as a motivational speaker. In addition to his new role at Bow Wow Labs, Cooper is the president at Pet Industry Expert and North American Sales & Marketing.

Currently, Bow Wow Labs is best known for The Bully Buddy, which was launched in the fall of 2018. Bully sticks are one of the most popular dog treats; however, they are not always considered safe. The Bully Buddy is a new safety device to prevent dogs from choking on bully sticks.

The Bully Buddy and its highly nutritious bully sticks, which come from grass-fed cattle are only the first of future products planned that fall within Bow Wow Labs’ mission to keep dogs happy, healthy and safe.

(PRESS RELEASE) Extract Labs, a Colorado-based hemp extraction lab, has announced that it is funding cancer research currently being conducted at Colorado State University at the James L. Voss Veterinary Teaching Hospital.

Specifically, researchers at CSU are conducting lab-based research on the impact of CBD against canine glioma, or brain and spinal cancer, cells. The research began in early 2019 to learn how CBD interacts with cancer cells, alone and in combination with a commonly used radiation therapy mechanism.

Cannabidiol or CBD has been shown to possess anti-tumor effects in human and rodent gliomas, and several studies demonstrate a similarity in canine and human gliomas. The initial phase of research is almost complete, and the team at Colorado State University hopes to publish study results within the next year.

“We are proud to be one of the few CBD companies in America currently funding canine cancer research through a university that is world-renowned for its medical care and research,” said Craig Henderson.

McGrath is teaming up with Dan Gustafson, professor of pharmacology and biomedical engineering, on this study.
