Firefighters in Santa Barbara County, CA, rescued a dog that fell 75 feet from a cliff.

The incident occurred Sunday morning at Mesa Bluffs, KSBY-TV reports.

The Santa Barbara County Fire Department responded after receiving reports at 9:46 a.m. They arrived to find that the dog had fallen 75 feet or more.

A firefighter went over the side of the cliff and rescued the dog using a high-angle rope system, bringing the pooch to the bottom of the bluff, according to a tweet from Daniel Bertucelli, spokesman for the fire department.

The dog was returned to its “happy owner,” Bertucelli said.

In this Media Spotlight interview, NASC’s president, Bill Bookout, talks to PETS+ interviewer Chloe DiVita about the industry today: Where it’s headed, what’s the latest focus and why it’s vital to gain the involvement of independent pet product retailers.
