eBay (San Jose, CA) will open three temporary storefronts called “Hard to Find” gift shops as part of its holiday promotional strategy, Chain Store Age reports.

The pop-up shops will open in Detroit, Houston and Miami, with each focusing on a different holiday category, the article says.

The Hard to Find Sneaker Shop in Detroit will run from Nov. 19-20 and feature an assortment from retailer Urban Necessities as well as rare Nike sneakers. The Hard to Find Collectibles Shop in Houston will run from Dec. 3-4 and carry trading cards and various memorabilia. The Hard to Find Luxury Shop in Miami will run from Dec. 10-11 and feature rare timepieces and other items from high-end brands.

This isn’t eBay’s first foray into physical spaces, the article notes. In 2019, the online marketplace opened a one-day pop-up in Manhattan called the “Black Friday Escape Room” that allowed guests to participate in holiday challenges and visit a “Zen Room” serving refreshments with merchandise on display.

NASC Media Spotlight

At first it was just an idea: Animal supplements needed the same quality control that human-grade supplements receive. But that was enough to start a movement and an organization —the National Animal Supplement Council — that would be dedicated to establishing a comprehensive path forward for the animal supplements industry. In this Media Spotlight interview, NASC’s president, Bill Bookout, talks to PETS+ interviewer Chloe DiVita about the industry today: Where it’s headed, what’s the latest focus and why it’s vital to gain the involvement of independent pet product retailers.
