Share your Sustainability Successes.
This year, our parent company, W.F. Young advanced our sustainability commitment by completing the Pet Sustainability Coalition’s B Impact Assessment and SDG modules to establish our baseline. We integrated a sustainability questionnaire into our Quality Audit and updated our Supply Agreement to include ethical expectations. Honest to Goodness Upcycled Horse Treats earned Upcycled Certification, reducing food waste. Our Employee Handbook now reinforces our dedication to employee well-being, and we were honored with Pet Age’s 2024 Best Places to Work award, reflecting high employee satisfaction. These achievements strengthen our environmental and social responsibility while fostering a positive, ethical workplace.
Share Your Environment Impact Initiatives and/or Certifications.
We actively engage employees and industry partners in our environmental initiatives. Solar panels installed at our headquarters generated 64.41 MWh last year, saving ~54.75 metric tons of CO2, equal to ~2,488 trees planted. We eliminated single-use plastic water bottles by providing reusable drinkware and added automatic water shut-off systems to reduce water waste. Employees participate in Earth Day activities, from local clean-ups to the Pet Sustainability Coalition’s Earth Day Rally, where we placed 5th last year. These efforts reflect our commitment to reducing our environmental footprint while fostering a culture of sustainability.
Share Your Sustainably Sourced Materials Standard and/or Certifications.
We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and embracing sustainability by transforming our processes, products and use of raw materials. All of our products are made in the USA, which cuts transportation resources. Our Honest to Goodness pet and animal treats are packaged in bags that are made with 30% post consumer recycled packaging, and we recently achieved Upcycled Certification for our new Upcycled Horse Treats. One of our supplement brands includes 5 USDA certified organic products made with sustain ably harvested ingredients and we are currently developing new products with unique ingredients sourcing to help reduce food waste.
As a PSC Member, Your Sustainable Goals are?
This year some of our goals include:
- A complete assessment of current packaging materials and compliance with Extended Producer Responsibility and Household Hazardous Waste regulatory reporting.
- Create a Green Team to track and accomplish our environmental and sustainability goals.
- Continue to participate in events that benefit the environment, like “Every Day is Earth Day” team building activities, Confetti Online Team games with points achieved that go towards planting trees in Uganda and learning how to build water filters for underserved communities.
- Maintain our PSC accreditation with an emphasis on progress made with packaging and supplier scorecards.
