REATAILER WISHLIST

  • Health alerts in a grass litter. — Tamie Waugh, Cobber’s Pet Pantry, Enumclaw, WA
  • A litter that is affordable, doesn’t track, lasts and actually works at keeping the smell away. I lose customers to cheap litter that doesn’t work that great. They’ll dump cheap cat litter constantly before they’ll spend $40-plus on a bag. Because it comes down to affordability for most. — Jennifer Stanislawski, Eden Garden & Pets, West Allis, WI
  • Easier to handle packaging. — Dawn Hanner, Eastside Dog, Redmond, WA
  • More frequent-buyer programs for cat litter. MAP pricing would also be nice. — Cassie Nilsson, The Mill Stores, Whiteford, MD
  • A truly dust-free, fragrance-free, biodegradable litter that clumps as well as clay, but doesn’t track and is gentle on sensitive paws. While there are great options, most have to sacrifice one benefit for another. More brand support for independent retailers, such as sampling programs, display-ready packaging and/or bundling promotions with litter box accessories. Customers are always looking to try something new in this category, but without a way to test or see the difference, they tend to stick with what they know. — Victor Santucci, Garden State Pet Center, Audubon, NJ
  • Tofu litter that works with automatic litter boxes. — Julie Sterling, Julz Animal Houz, Marysville, WA
  • More education, especially for litters that are not clay. — Sheena Kirkwood, Felicity’s Pet Supplies, Bellefonte, PA
  • I wish that my distributors would carry tofu litter. It has become very popular with consumers. — Victoria Park, Park Pet Supply, Atlanta, GA
  • Calming cat litter for homes with multiple cats. — Natalya Rokvic, Pets On Brady, Milwaukee, WI
  • Less confusion! State clearly what the benefits are. — Kris Lamoreaux, Healthy Pets Mountain West, Cottonwood Heights, UT
  • Pet-safe clip-on air fresheners. — Eric Mack, Purrrfect Bark, Columbus, NC
  • Discounts for owners with multi-cat households. So many have three, four, five cats. — Maria Cetrola, Buddy’s Pet Shop, Beach Haven, NJ
  • Finer-slotted litter scoops for better cleaning of all the little bits. — Corey Heenan, Boutique and Pet Spa, Altamont, NY
  • Better margin. — Lisa Vella, South Bark Dog Wash, San Diego, CA
  • Larger covered litter boxes. — Teresa Scarpace, The Feed Bag Pet Supply, Mequon, WI
  • A litter box and mat system that keeps the litter off the floor. — Taylor England, Earthwise Pet Lake Nona, Orlando, FL
  • Natural deodorizing options. — Joanna Shaw, All Pet & Equine Supply, Mountain Home, AR
  • More pretty litter boxes. — April Wright, The Dog and Cat, Essex Jct, VT
  • Some kind of sampling program. Many people hesitate to try something new in case their cats won’t use it, and then they are stuck with a bag. — Becci Scott, The Fetching Dog, Scottsdale, AZ
  • One that is truly low tracking. — Shelly Nicastro, Essex Bird Shop & Pet Supply, Essex, MA
  • A window that shows the litter. Constantly getting asked or if customers can open up the bag to see before buying. — Lori Colburn, Nature’s Pet Market Orenco, Hillsboro, OR
  • More litter mats that actually help with tracking! Loree Shirazi, Paw Pleasers, San Diego, CA
Low tracking, scent controlling, good clumping and cost effective! — Anthony Fuentes, Earthwise Pet Oldsmar and Belleair, Belleair Bluffs, FL
  • More lightweight. — Lesli Miller, Delilah’s Pet Shop, Bloomington, IN
  • Something that is less dusty. A natural de-odorizer. — Kat Vandermoss, All Natural Pet Supply, Vancouver, WA
  • Pet-safe scents to mask odor. — April Meier, Pawsitively Scrumptious Bark Bakery & Boutique, Crestview, FL
  • More sustainable products. — Jusak Yang Bernhard, Wag Heaven, Georgetown, TX
  • Some way to keep litter contained that cats actually like. — Keith Henline, Asheville Pet Supply, Asheville, NC
