Macy’s Inc. plans to enter the pet care business, along with several other categories.

The company has “emerging opportunities in new categories and brands, including toys, health & wellness, pet and home décor,” Macy’s CEO Jeff Gennette said in a press release.

When the pandemic hit last year, Macy’s wasn’t positioned to take full advantage of online shopping trends, CNBC reports.

“Customers have signaled for us where we’ve failed [in] searches,” he said in an earnings call.

The company hopes to attract more millennial shoppers with the strategy.

“As consumers seek to re-engage with each other, we are seeing promising signs that our core customers are shopping again, and we continue to attract new customers, who increasingly begin their shopping experience with us online,” Gennette said.
