Pet industry veteran Billy Slaughter, with significant experience in product development, continuous improvements, and food safety, has joined Natural Balance as director of quality, regulatory and research and development. Previously, Slaughter managed quality and regulatory affairs for leading pet specialty brand Merrick Pet Care since 2005. He is responsible for the company’s overall product quality, compliance, conformance to quality requirements and specifications, and conformance to customer quality requirements.
With over 25 years of experience in human and pet food production, quality assurance and food safety Cliff Grimes joins the team as Manager, Quality and Regulatory Affairs. Grimes is responsible for working with manufacturing on food safety and quality assurance, regulatory compliance and making sure only the highest quality ingredients are sourced for the brand.
Jennifer Freeman, with more than 20 years of diverse experience in the animal health and pet food industries, remains a crucial part of the team as she takes on the new role of director of nutritional science and customer care. Freeman has been part of the Natural Balance team for 16 years. She is a dedicated registered veterinary technologist with a master’s degree in animal nutrition, is well known and respected for her wealth of nutritional and regulatory knowledge in developing balanced formulas that meets the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) nutrient profiles and state regulations for dog and cat pet food products.
