HEADING INTO A trade show, we try to get a sense of what product categories our retailer readers will be talking about — and shopping for — as they make their way up and down the aisles. We did exactly that in “The Buzz,” this issue’s lead story (p. 60). In it, indies share their shopping lists and expectations for Global Pet Expo, happening March 26-28 at the Orlando Convention Center in Orlando, FL. A selection of our brand readers also share in the story what they plan to promote during the show.

We’ll follow up our reporting live, per usual, from the trade-show floor. The PETS+ team will be there in full force. Joining me on the editorial side will be Contributing Editor Melissa L. Kauffman, and the PETS+ sales team will be three-strong with Publisher Desiree´Lynch and National Sales Executives Trish Rodriguez and Ziva Palmer. Also don’t miss learning from PETS+ columnists Candace D’Agnolo and Matt Aldrich in person. Both are speaking and engaging with retailers at the show! Head to globalpetexpo.org/education for complete details. (The opportunities to meet and learn from them are too many to list here.)

We hope to see you at some point during Global, whether at the PETS+ booth, #1615, or as we’re working our way around the show floor.

Not attending? Not a problem. If you don’t already get them, sign up for our daily ebulletins at petsplusmag.com/ebulletins to receive our daily roundups of booth visit videos and other coverage. You can also follow us throughout each day via facebook.com/petsplusmag and/or by joining our private community for independent pet retailers and service providers at facebook.com/groups/petsplusmagcommunity.

See you soon! Either at Global or online.

NASC Media Spotlight

At first it was just an idea: Animal supplements needed the same quality control that human-grade supplements receive. But that was enough to start a movement and an organization —the National Animal Supplement Council — that would be dedicated to establishing a comprehensive path forward for the animal supplements industry. In this Media Spotlight interview, NASC’s president, Bill Bookout, talks to PETS+ interviewer Chloe DiVita about the industry today: Where it’s headed, what’s the latest focus and why it’s vital to gain the involvement of independent pet product retailers.
