It’s a former candy factory.
Midwest Co-Pack LLC has purchased a former candy factory in Winona, MN, and it’s set to become the primary supplier for the owner’s flagship company, The Pet Health People.
Amy Paris, founder of both companies, said Midwest Co-Pack will also provide pet and human food contract manufacturing services.
“I am committed to making Midwest Co-Pack a success; not only for the city of Winona, but also for the continued success of The Pet Health People,” Paris said. “My desire to vertically align PHP’s supply chain, from production to fulfillment, has been our goal since inception but it was important to me to find the right fit for our business. The expertise of the staff at Midwest Co-Pack is unparalleled; I have no doubt that their input will not only support my already established business but ensure that it continues to thrive.”
According to a press release, Midwest Co-Pack is leveraging the expertise of former plant employees, who boast an average tenure of 25 years in food manufacturing. The company’s plans include “providing pet and human food contract manufacturing services for innovative brands, focused on achieving a 100% made in America food chain for their human and furry customers.”

The factory had operated since the early 1900s before closing its doors last year.
The Winona WorkForce Center, which is funded by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Security, worked with Midwest Co-Pack to quickly fill open positions at the factory, according to the release.
Founded in 2010, The Pet Health People designs, manufactures and distributes LICKS holistic remedies for dogs and cats. The primary product line includes gummi and liquid pet vitamins and health supplements.
