An animal-health entrepreneur in the Washington, DC, area has landed on a new Animal Planet show called “Dodo Heroes” for his work in the highly specialized area of animal orthotics and prosthetics, the Washington Business Journal reports.

Derrick Campana, who founded Animal OrthoCare 13 years ago, has made braces, splints and artificial limbs for about 20,000 animals, including pets such as cats and dogs as well as more exotic creatures such as elephants. He remains a partner in Animal OrthoCare and also owns the prosthetics company Bionic Pets.

Campana was featured in the show’s first episode, which aired June 9. A crew filmed his work in Arizona and Africa over two weeks, the Journal reports.

“I want to share the story of what I do and all these animals that have overcome adversity,” he’s quoted saying.
