Pet Perks Are a Huge Deal for Some of America’s Best Employers

Some of America’s best places to work find that offering pet-oriented benefits is a great way to make employees more productive and happier, Inc. reports.

The magazine recently released its annual roster of the country’s Best Workplaces. Approximately 9 percent of those employers offer perks designed to appeal to pet owners.

Examples of such perks include animal-friendly workspaces, pet insurance and pet-product discounts.

Such benefits are not always easy to put into place, Inc. notes. For example, welcoming pets into the office can be tough if some people have allergies.

Evren Esen of the Society for Human Resource Management said, “If there’s something within that culture, where there’s a lot of pet lovers, there are ways to make it work, there’s just an extra step.”

One of the easier benefits to set up is pet insurance. The Society for Human Resource Management found that 9 percent of firms offered that perk in 2016.
