Pet Sitters International Celebrates 8th annual Pet-Sitter Education Month

The observance will highlight the educational resources available to today’s professional pet sitters and dog walkers.

(PRESS RELEASE) KING, NC— This September marks the eighth annual Pet-Sitter Education Month, a time each year when Pet Sitters International (PSI) shines the spotlight on the ongoing pet-care and business training available to professional pet sitters and dog walkers.

PSI created this annual observance in 2016 to highlight professional pet sitters’ commitment to continuing education and the growing number of educational resources available to today’s professional pet sitters and dog walkers. PSI will celebrate this month by highlighting educational resources, providing monthlong discounts on educational products, and announcing the creation of a new course.

“PSI’s motto is ‘pet-sitting excellence through education,’ and this is a responsibility we take seriously year-round,” said PSI President Beth Stultz-Hairston. “However, each September we love to put a special emphasis on the educational resources available to pet sitters and dog walkers—and remind pet parents that they should select qualified, professional pet sitters for their pet-care needs.”

Professional pet sitters and dog walkers have access to more resources than ever before, from online courses and learning subscriptions to on-demand webinars and annual conferences, and through PSI’s CPPS-Certified Professional Pet Sitter© Exam, experienced pet sitters are able to demonstrate their education and qualifications.

“More than three decades ago when I started pet sitting, there were no pet-sitting specific resources available to me,” PSI Founder & CEO Patti J. Moran explained. “We are proud to provide professional pet sitters and dog walkers with easy access to the educational tools they need to boost their businesses and provide exceptional pet care.”

To assist professional pet sitters in taking advantage of educational opportunities in the industry, PSI’s Pet-Sitter Education Month section on includes links to pet-sitter resources and special discounts for the month of September.

PSI encourages pet parents to inquire about pet sitters’ training and credentials prior to booking services and provides a free Pet-Sitter Interview Checklist.
