(PRESS RELEASE) KING, NC — With the fifth annual Pet-Sitter Education Month falling during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Pet Sitters International (PSI) is reminding pet owners this September that professional pet sitters who are committed to continuing education and have the training to provide exceptional, safe services are available.

PSI, the world’s leading educational association for professional pet sitters, created Pet-Sitter Education Month to shine a spotlight on professional pet sitters’ commitment to continuing education and on the growing number of educational resources available to today’s professional pet sitters and dog walkers.

While professional pet sitters have always made continuing education a priority, the importance of ongoing education has become even more evident as pet-care businesses have faced the COVID-19 pandemic and had to determine how to best offer services safely.

“Professional pet sitters make continuing education a priority and take advantage of the wealth of options available to them today—from courses on pet sitting during a pandemic to pet first aid and CPCR,” said Beth Stultz-Hairston, PSI’s president. “Since 1994, PSI has been able to provide pet sitters and dog walkers with the educational tools and resources they need to succeed, and we’re inspired by PSI members’ dedication to staying up-to-date on the latest best practices so they can continue providing exceptional service to their clients.”

PSI will be observing Pet-Sitter Education Month by offering discounts on PSI’s new pet first aid and CPCR course and PSI’s CPPS-Certified Professional Pet Sitter Exam, providing members with links to resources related to diversity and inclusion, and continuing to update its COVID-19 Member Resource section. PSI also continues to offer a COVID-19 Certification Course for Pet Sitters and Dog Walkers.

“After more than two decades of providing members with easy-to-access educational tools to improve their businesses and the services they provide, PSI remains committed to our motto of ‘Pet-sitting excellence through education,’” said Patti J. Moran, PSI’s founder and CEO.

NASC Media Spotlight

At first it was just an idea: Animal supplements needed the same quality control that human-grade supplements receive. But that was enough to start a movement and an organization —the National Animal Supplement Council — that would be dedicated to establishing a comprehensive path forward for the animal supplements industry. In this Media Spotlight interview, NASC’s president, Bill Bookout, talks to PETS+ interviewer Chloe DiVita about the industry today: Where it’s headed, what’s the latest focus and why it’s vital to gain the involvement of independent pet product retailers.
