Queer Eye Stars Jonathan Van Ness and Antoni Porowski Announce New Yummers Partnership With Pet Food Express

The food mix-ins are now available through the California chain, which also joins forces with the brand on a “Buy a Bag, Give a Bag” campaign.

(PRESS RELEASE) SAN DIEGO, CA — After a wildly successful debut of their initial line of premium quality pet food mix-ins, Yummers celebrity co-founders Jonathan Van Ness, Antoni Porowski and pet industry expert Rebecca Frechette Rudisch announce the brand’s entry into all Pet Food Express locations throughout California as well as through their online store (PetFood.Express). Pet Food Express, California’s trusted retailer and shelter partner since 1980, welcomes the Yummers brand into its incredible portfolio of top-quality pet food and products and, in honor of the launch, is now offering exclusive promotions on all Yummers products from May 29, 2023 through July 2, 2023.

To kick-off the newfound partnership, Yummers and Pet Food Express are also joining forces on a “Buy a Bag, Give a Bag” campaign. For each unit of Yummers mix-ins sold online or in-stores at Pet Food Express through August 31, 2023, an additional will be pledged to animals in need. Once tallied, the grand donation total will be announced during Pet Food Express’ annual Pet Fair extravaganza, and Yummers products will be distributed across local animal shelters statewide throughout the month of August.

“Pet Food Express is thrilled to expand our offering of flavorful, nutrient-packed healthful options with the Yummers brand. The partnership couldn’t be more aligned,” said Andrea Petrone, head of merchandising for Pet Food Express. “We’re committed to selling pet food and products that we love, and trust, for our own pets and Yummers’ mix-ins deliver flavor variety without artificial ingredients.”

Yummers’ entire current line of mix-ins for dogs and cats hitting shelves at Pet Food Express includes multiple varieties designed to address nutritional, digestive and flavor voids in many existing kibble formulas.

  • The insanely craveable Gourmet Mix-Ins easily add flavor and variety to mealtime. Yummers’ Pure Protein no-nonsense recipes are made with just one ingredient— Chicken Breast, Beef Liver or Cheddar Cheese—and freeze-dried to retain nutrients and flavor. Great for pets with allergies and/or sensitivities, the limited-ingredient Tender Morsel mix-ins come in thoughtfully crafted medleys. Meats paired with fruits or veggies are the focus, dehydrated to concentrate flavor in a jerky-like texture; choose from Turkey & Cranberry, Salmon & Sweet Potato and Chicken & Ginger.
  • Yummers Functional Mix-Ins support common pet health needs (Digestion, Skin & Coat, Hip & Joint, Calming & Heart Health) without pills, chews, or liquids. Made with freeze-dried meat (always the #1 ingredient) and added nutrients like Zinc, L-Carnitine, Taurine, and probiotics so pet parents are only left with empty bowls and happy, healthy pets.

All Yummers products are made without artificial ingredients and come in Earth-friendly, PCR (post-consumer recycled) packaging to reduce landfill waste. A no-fuss addition to your pet’s mealtime routine, Yummers mix-ins are extremely easy to use. Just pour the recommended serving size over the food and mix it in to provide your beloved pets with what they need and deserve. And thanks to this new partnership with Pet Food Express, customers can enjoy exclusive pricing for a limited time beginning May 29th.

With a healthy obsession for pets, the Yummers team is proud to partner with Pet Food Express as they continue their pursuit of changing the pet food industry with innovative products to build on their existing collection of mix-ins. “Both Yummers and Pet Food Express share a desire to help California pets and their parents live happier, healthier lives together. It was a natural choice for Yummers,” says Van Ness. “We’re looking forward to this introduction to Pet Food Express’ loyal customer base and bringing them into the Yummers community of pet lovers,” Porowski adds. “Yummers is reinventing mealtime and strengthening the bond between pets and their parents by delivering flavor forward mix-ins with functional benefits that pets love and their parents feel good about serving,” says Frechette Rudisch.

Stay tuned for future announcements from Yummers HQ as the team continues their ambitious plans to better the lives of pets and pet owners in 2023.

NASC Media Spotlight

At first it was just an idea: Animal supplements needed the same quality control that human-grade supplements receive. But that was enough to start a movement and an organization —the National Animal Supplement Council — that would be dedicated to establishing a comprehensive path forward for the animal supplements industry. In this Media Spotlight interview, NASC’s president, Bill Bookout, talks to PETS+ interviewer Chloe DiVita about the industry today: Where it’s headed, what’s the latest focus and why it’s vital to gain the involvement of independent pet product retailers.
