(PRESS RELEASE) Raised Right is a family owned human-grade pet food company that makes “home cooked style” whole food recipes that are stored frozen and served fresh. They’ve now teamed up with world-renowned veterinarians Dr. Karen Becker & Dr. Barbara Royal to create a line of veterinary support recipes that are formulated to help pets with specific health issues.

“Many people have asked us to create recipes that support pets battling chronic illnesses like kidney disease as they want their pets to be eating whole food recipes that meet human-grade standards. While our original recipes have been helping pets with a variety of health issues, there are some pets who require a special diet and it’s time for us to provide this to them as most of the veterinary diets available are either kibble or canned food.” – says Braeden Ruud, Co-Founder / CEO of Raised Right.

Just like Raised Right’s original recipes, their new veterinary support recipes are produced to human-grade standards and gently cooked in a USDA-inspected facility. After each batch is produced, samples are sent to a third-party laboratory to be tested for pathogens like E. coli, listeria, and salmonella. Raised Right has a hold release program, where they don’t ever ship their food unless it passes the lab safety test. For transparency, they post the test results of every batch on their website for everyone to see.

“While it’s important that growing puppies and kittens consume adequate amounts of dietary phosphorus for healthy development, pets with kidney disease can’t filter or excrete waste products efficiently, and since they can’t effectively remove phosphorus from their bloodstream, it can build up, further damaging the kidneys and accelerating the progression of the disease. This is why pets with any kidney stress do best consuming a minimally processed diet that’s low in phosphorus.” – says veterinarian Dr. Karen Becker.

Not only has Raised Right created fresh low phosphorus recipes formulated for kidney support, but they’ve also created fresh low fat recipes formulated for pancreatic support.

“Pancreatitis causes swelling and inflammation of the pancreas. Since a major role of the pancreas is to produce digestive enzymes, the goal is to reduce the amount of work the pancreas needs to do as this gives it time to heal. Eating a highly digestible, fresh diet with lowered fat content not only decreases the workload for the pancreas, it also decreases inflammation in the body. These are both essential components in recovery from pancreatitis. This is why pets with pancreatitis can benefit from a high quality, low fat diet until the condition resolves.” – says veterinarian Dr. Barbara Royal.
