(PRESS RELEASE) ANDERSON, IN — Scout & Zoe’s, a trailblazer in premium, innovative pet products, celebrates its 16th anniversary—a sweet milestone that reflects years of dedication to pet wellness, sustainability, and a whole lot of tail wags.

Founded in 2010 by Cindy Dunston Quirk, Scout & Zoe’s began as a solution to her German Shepherd Zoe’s allergies. Unable to find suitable chews, Cindy turned to naturally shed elk antlers, which both Zoe and her German Shorthaired Pointer, Scout, enjoyed without issue. This inspired Cindy to create the company, starting with five sizes of antler chews. Today, the company offers a wide range of treats and chews, including kangaroo jerky, venison jerky, duck jerky, and lamb jerky, just to name a few. Treats created using novel proteins now account for 80% of their annual revenue.

Cindy’s commitment to innovation is evident in her development of unique products, such as those made from Asian carp and black soldier fly larvae. These innovations have set Scout & Zoe’s apart in the pet industry.

Beyond product development, Cindy is dedicated to giving back to the community. She founded the “Scouting for the Cure” foundation to fund research aimed at finding a cure for canine cancer, specifically hemangiosarcoma, a disease that claimed the lives of both Scout and Schatz. The foundation received its 501(c)(3) status on the first anniversary of Scout’s passing.

To celebrate its Sweet 16, Scout & Zoe’s is giving back to its community of pet lovers, and teasing exciting new innovations on the horizon.

NASC Media Spotlight

At first it was just an idea: Animal supplements needed the same quality control that human-grade supplements receive. But that was enough to start a movement and an organization —the National Animal Supplement Council — that would be dedicated to establishing a comprehensive path forward for the animal supplements industry. In this Media Spotlight interview, NASC’s president, Bill Bookout, talks to PETS+ interviewer Chloe DiVita about the industry today: Where it’s headed, what’s the latest focus and why it’s vital to gain the involvement of independent pet product retailers.
