EDITOR’S NOTE: PETS+ is the media partner for GROOM’D, the annual grooming-focused pet trade show presented by World Pet Association. The PETS+ team will be reporting live from Atlanta, GA, Friday through Sunday. To not miss any of the action, like our Facebook page and sign up for the daily GROOM’D ebulletin at petsplusmag.com/subscribe.

Visitors from around the world are attending GROOM’D this weekend to further their education, see old friends (and make new ones) — and compete! Competitions run throughout the day, with attendees competing, cheering on friends, or both.

Many we talked to said that a big draw to GROOM’D is that it’s solely focused on all things grooming. Attendees said they appreciate the smaller size of the conference compared to the larger ones. This allows them to talk to the other competitors — and judges — and ask for feedback, helpful advice and tips, as well as to learn from them and expand their grooming knowledge in education sessions.

One competitor said, “I’ve been coming to GROOM’D for years and will continue to come back. It doesn’t matter if I win or lose, it just kind of feels like home here.”

Now for some “Spotted” pics of action on the competition floor: Sporting (Spaniels & Setters) on Saturday.

NASC Media Spotlight

At first it was just an idea: Animal supplements needed the same quality control that human-grade supplements receive. But that was enough to start a movement and an organization —the National Animal Supplement Council — that would be dedicated to establishing a comprehensive path forward for the animal supplements industry. In this Media Spotlight interview, NASC’s president, Bill Bookout, talks to PETS+ interviewer Chloe DiVita about the industry today: Where it’s headed, what’s the latest focus and why it’s vital to gain the involvement of independent pet product retailers.
