(PRESS RELEASE) NEW YORK – The Dog Gurus, the pet industry experts that help pet care businesses launch, grow, and profit, have recorded their tips and tricks to help daycares and their staff capitalize on the busy summer season. Robin Bennett and Susan Briggs, the founders of The Dog Gurus, bring to you the best ways to employ and promote your business for a successful summer.

Pet care facilities and daycares see a huge increase in attendance volume, especially overnight lodging, in the summertime. There are many ways to add on to the experience for the client and their pet(s) with this in mind. Offering a special treat that is included in an activity package that has already been set up for a boarding client is one way to increase the experience for the pet. Adding something as simple as an ice cream treat or a summer specific activity to an already existing package is a great way to upsell daycare and boarding packages. Always make sure to upsell and introduce in person the special items and activities during bookings and check-in times.

Another way to help your business with its continued growth is by hiring seasonal/part time workers. The daycare center is going to need more people to help with the increase in clientele and boarders, which means an increase in not only activity but also administration, maintenance, feedings, and cleaning.

A fun add-on to your summer menu of activities could be a themed week or weekend – or even a month-long event. One idea is to have a summer camp where there’s extra activities such as an art project. The camp could also have the option of flexible attendance days during the time period it is offered.

Certain days could also be a day where a “Trick of the Month” is the add-on for the services menu. Every month there is a specific trick that specific is taught and worked on with the dogs. In order for this trick to be learned successfully, the dog would need to be brough in several times that month with the add-on purchased and applied which will lead to a greater revenue. Once the dog has learned the trick, then the owner will learn it to use it at home as well.

If anyone does not have a trainer on staff and they’re interested in implementing a Trick of the Month service, The Dog Gurus have partnered with Blue-9 products and together they created fifteen tricks that come with handouts, resources, and training videos for your staff to learn how to successfully teach the tricks. More information about and how to purchase the Trick of the Month Program, you can go here.
