Vote on Finalists for Andis’ Hearts & Paws Award

(PRESS RELEASE) Andis Company, a leader in the grooming tools industry, has selected the three finalists for the 2019 Hearts & Paws Award, which acknowledges grooming professionals who show animals the best side of humanity through their volunteer work with local shelters.

Voting opened via Facebook on Monday, July 29 and will close on Friday, Aug. 23. Facebook users will be able to vote once per day for the entire duration of voting via the #HeartsandPaws2019 Facebook tab.

“We are excited to recognize groomers who demonstrate a love of animals as well as a passion for the communities in which they live,” said Nicole Kallish, manager of education-animal for Andis. “Andis cares deeply for the animals and communities our groomers operate in each and every day, and we want to show our appreciation for the commitment we see from grooming professionals around the country.”

Andis will donate $2,000 to the winner’s local shelter or pet organization of their choice. The Hearts & Paws award recipient will also receive an Andis grooming kit (valued at $1,200).

As The Tail Wags Staff — This three-person team —Kristie Perry Kingsland, Tonya Williamson and Ashley Roach—was nominated for their dedication to the pets in their community. In the 10 years they have been serving the Oviedo Community they have worked with rescues including The Pixel Fund, Florida Little Dog Rescue, Pet Rescue by Judy, Pets for Paradise and Lovey Loaves. They also use their passion for grooming to help citizens in their community by hosting dog washes to help with cancer treatments for community members, and they were part of an effort to raise money for a new police dog. They even organized a dog wash with grooming salons across the country where 37 salons raised over $10,000 for victims of The Pulse night club shootings in Orlando. “This is a grooming salon not only dedicated to pets but their community and the grooming industry,” said their nominator. If they win, they’d like to give back to The Pixel Fund, Florida.

 

Cherie Kim — Cherie Kim was nominated because of her kind and gentle grooming, and for her big heart. She is pictured in her Hearts & Paws graphic with one of her long-time clients who she loved as her own—just as she loves all of her clients. “She has helped me grow into a better groomer and has always been a fantastic resource and mentor for me,” said her nominator. If she wins, she’d like to give back toFoster Pet Outreach in Peoria, IL.

Melody Anne — Melody Anne is the owner and groomer at Stacked and Styled in Collinsville, IL. and gives a part of her heart to every pet she grooms — client or rescue. Melody has groomed several dogs in extremely critical coat condition and uses her grooming talents to help them on the road to recovery. She volunteers not only her time and talents but also her home for the animal rescue organization Partners 4 Pets of Troy, IL. “[Melody] should win the #HeartsandPaws2019 Award because she has the biggest, most giving heart of anyone I know!” said her nominator. If she wins, she’d like to give back to Partners 4 Pets, Troy, IL.
