Winners of 2021 Daycare Games Competition Announced

The Dog Gurus awarded weekly virtual gold, silver, and bronze medals.

(PRESS RELEASE) NEW YORK — Each year, a competition takes place within the pet daycare industry that’s hands-on, fun and beneficial for all pets and staff who participate. The Dog Gurus, the #1 in staff training and business consulting group for the pet care industry, hosts the the Daycare Games Competition as a way for pet centers to demonstrate their dog leadership skills that help to make their off-leash dog playgroups safe and fun.

“We designed the Daycare Games to be a skills-based challenge that keeps dogs safe and happy, and recognizes the top dog daycare providers for their unique skills” says Robin, CPDT-KA and co-founder of The Dog Gurus.

PETS+ Presents: Coolest Holiday Products 2024!

During the 2021 Daycare Games Competition there were over 100 facilities and more than 900 staff participating. All of the pet care businesses competing offered off-leash dog playgroups, and had been grouped into and competed against like-sized businesses per their small, medium, and large class sizes. The competition consisted of three main events: The Dog Recall, Group Sit, and Gate Boundary.

The Daycare Games Closing Ceremonies 2021 video shows all of the hard work and joy both staff and pups experienced this year.

The Dog Gurus awarded weekly virtual Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals for individual dog handlers and facilities throughout the month of February. During the closing ceremonies, award recognition for overall medals were announced.

Below are the pet centers with the highest medal weighted score (3 pts for Gold, 2 for Silver, 1 for Bronze) earned in the three events combined. Each of these facilities received an award to be displayed in their facility.

Large:

  • Gold: The Good Dog Spot in Chicopee, MA
  • Silver: Inn The Doghouse – Lakewood in Lakewood, OH
  • Bronze: Cosmo’s Corner Doggie Daycare in Virginia Beach

Medium:

  • Gold: Barkaritaville Pet Resort Corpus Christi in Corpus Christi, TX
  • Silver: Monadnock Humane Society Boarding and Daycare in Swanzey, NH
  • Bronze: Just Fur Pets in Springfield, VA

Small:

  • Gold: BowMeow Regency in Monterey, MA
  • Gold: Harvey’s Pet Center in Johnstown, NY
  • Silver: Milton Manor Pet Resort & Spa in Middle Grove, NY
  • Silver: The Valley Pet Resort and Spa in Northbridge, MA
  • Bronze: Puppy Paws Hotel & Spa in Edmond, OK
