(PRESS RELEASE) STAMFORD, CT – Canidae, the premium, eco-friendly pet food brand, was recognized by the San Antonio Food Bank as one of its Hunger Fighters of the Year recipients last week for its ongoing dedication to the food bank. The company donated nearly a million pounds of pet food for families in need.
More than 375,000 people in the San Antonio area face food insecurity every day, and after a particularly stressful 2020 and 2021, the San Antonio Food Bank and Canidae wanted to ensure that no families – including those with four legged members – go hungry this holiday season. The San Antonio Food Bank’s Hunger Fighter of the Year award was presented to Canidae along with Labatt Food Service, Community Bible Church, Lots of Love, San Antonio Current, and Northside ISD at their annual Harvest of Hope event, which raised funds providing over 1.5 million meals for families in need.
Wally Shaw, Canidae’s chief operating officer, accepted the award on the company’s behalf and was inspired by the overwhelming generosity that the San Antonio community has for their own. “It’s an incredible feeling to receive this recognition from the San Antonio Food Bank. After all, this is where Canidae started, and we are honored to be able to give back to the community that gave us so much,” Shaw said. “While we’re humbled by this award, all of us at Canidae strive to do even more to spread goodness to pets, people and the planet.”
This recognition comes on the heels of Canidae’s most recent 38,000-pound donation on November 17th in preparation for the holiday season. The company is on track to donate one million pounds of food within the next year.
