Female Founders Team Up to Save Stray and Abandoned Dogs This Holiday Season

(PRESS RELEASE) MONTRÉAL & TULUM (Dec. 13, 2023) — In the spirit of giving back this holiday season, two female founders are joining together for a paw-sitive cause: saving street dogs’ lives and helping rescues thrive.

Dana Ben David, co-founder & creative director of Healthybud, a Canadian pet wellness brand specializing in Superfood products, has joined forces with Andrea Renaud, Canadian-born founder of The Tejido, a not-for-profit organization that protects and rescues stray and abandoned dogs in Mexico.

For every bag of Healthybud treats sold until January 1, Healthybud will be donating $1 to The Tejido. The goal is to raise thousands of dollars, which will go toward providing essential care and medical attention to street dogs including spaying/neutering, vaccinations and emergency treatments. The Tejido recently ran a successful spay/neuter/vaccination campaign targeting the most underserved area in Tulum where they spayed, neutered and vaccinated 100 stray dogs in two days. The organization plans on repeating this quarterly if not monthly.

Funds will also go toward The Tejido’s work finding foster homes & forever homes for dogs in need and the associated costs of dog adoption, such as transportation fees.

“The challenge for us, along with most non-profits, is always funding. Partnering with Healthybud was such an organic process in that the founders share so much of the same passion when it comes to dogs and their well-being. As a fellow Canadian there was also that immediate connection there. It is such an incredible initiative and so impactful for us. We are really excited about the future with Healthybud!” — Andrea Renaud, founder, The Tejido

“We’re so honoured to help The Tejido with its amazing spaying/neutering/vaccination campaigns. Our mission is to support the organization’s incredible efforts to save and protect stray pups in Mexico.” — Dana Ben David, co-founder and creative director, Healthybud
