(PRESS RELEASE) ST. LOUIS, MO & EDWARDSVILLE, IL — Four Muddy Paws, the award-winning healthy pet market known for its natural foods, spa services, and deep community roots, is entering an exciting new chapter. After 21 years, founders Jeffrey Jensen and Matt Brazelton have announced the transition of ownership to a new leadership team who will carry forward the mission and legacy of the beloved pet destination.
What began in 2004 as a passion project after rescuing their dog Salem on a camping trip has blossomed into a two-location community hub for healthy pet living in St. Louis and Edwardsville. With a focus on natural nutrition, wellness, and enrichment, Four Muddy Paws has helped thousands of dogs and cats thrive.
“We built Four Muddy Paws out of love—for our dog Salem, and for every pet who walks through our doors,” said Jensen.
“The past two decades have been an incredible journey. We’ve had the privilege of working with amazing store teams, supportive vendor partners, and the most loyal customers anyone could hope for. We’re so proud of the community we’ve built, and we know it’s in good hands.” said Brazelton.
Stephanie Windsor and her husband Jesse are the new owners of Four Muddy Paws. Stephanie has been with the shop for over eight years and most recently was the General Manager of both locations and the Store Manager of the St Louis location.
Stephanie Windsor’s lifelong passion for animals was shaped from a young age by her unique upbringing. The daughter of a U.S. Air Force officer and respected AKC judge, Stephanie spent part of her childhood in Germany, where she began showing her Yorkshire Terrier at eight years old while her mother trained their family Rottweiler in Schutzhund.
After returning to the U.S., she and her mother embraced a love of Arabian horses, competing across disciplines—from Competitive Trail and Western to Hunter Jumpers and eventually the National Championships in Saddleseat. Her deep connection to animals led her to manage a veterinary hospital, run her own tack shop, and ultimately find her heart and home at Four Muddy Paws. Stephanie has helped make the store a cornerstone of pet wellness in the community.
Now, as co-owner, she is thrilled to continue the store’s legacy alongside her husband, Jesse —a U.S. Navy veteran and experienced leader in technology and operations with a deep love for animals and community service. Together with their children, Madison and Merrik, and their dogs Monkey, Skeeter and Veruca, the Windsor’s are proud to carry on Four Muddy Paws’ mission as your trusted, family-run neighborhood pet store in St. Louis City and Edwardsville.
“We’re honored to carry forward the legacy of Four Muddy Paws, a business that has meant so much to pet lovers in Saint Louis and Edwardsville for over two decades,” said the new owners. “Our goal is simple: to continue championing pet health and wellness, supporting our local community, and delivering the same exceptional service and care that Four Muddy Paws customers have come to love. We’re excited for the journey ahead—and grateful to be part of such a passionate and loyal community.”
Both locations—Lafayette Square in St. Louis and Edwardsville—will remain open and fully operational during the transition, with the same dedicated staff and services.
