Healthybud Works with McGill University Researchers

(PRESS RELEASE) Healthybud, a startup company focusing on pet education and animal specific nutrition, participated in McGill University’s Summer 2019 Virtual Food Development Laboratory program at the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, to develop a formulation with bioactive ingredients that targets osteoarthritis in dogs.

McGill University’s Virtual Food Development Laboratory program provides hands-on experience to students while bringing innovative ways of formulating products for companies in many different industries. It provides healthybud with capabilities, testing facilities as well as access to highly qualified trainees on the chemistry of food and the scientific principles of food preservation. Healthybud is working directly with undergraduate student Sophie Côté, under the supervision of Salwa Karboune, associate professor and associate dean of research at McGill, as well as research assistant Marika Houde, who are devoting their time and efforts to help healthybud create a final product.

“Pet parents deserve truthful information and high quality food products for their loved ones” said Kyle Feigenbaum, CEO and co-founder of healthybud.“What differentiates us from other pet food companies is our scientific and thorough approach when it comes to product development, which is centered around pet health first; all of our ingredients are human-grade and purposeful. We like to say they are good enough for us but designed for them [the pets]”.

Another important differentiating element is healthybud’s concern with and focus on pet education. The comprehensive healthybud online wellness platform is set to revolutionize the pet industry, strengthening the relationship between pet owners and the companies providing them with products and education. “Through every conversation with McGill members, we recognized new innovative ingredients to try and include in production. We are eager to introduce our platform and products to the public” said Adrien Malka, president and co-founder of healthybud.

Healthybud intends to continue to push the common boundaries that have been set for pet foods by the larger corporations, challenging pet owners to take better care of their pets and join the growing movement of responsible pet parents.
