Pet Sustainability Coalition Pairs with IBPSA for Webinar Series

(PRESS RELEASE) The Pet Sustainability Coalition and the International Boarding & Pet Services Association are partnering to bring sustainable business education to the pet boarding community. The Pet Sustainability Coalition has designed a five-part educational series that demonstrates how small business owners can save money through energy-, water- and waste-reduction strategies.

“We know that for small businesses, monthly operating costs add up and that by reducing overhead we can shift over some of those ‘some-day’ strategies to “today” strategies by freeing up capital” says Caitlyn Dudas, executive director, Pet Sustainability Coalition.

The webinar series will cover the business case for integrating environmental and social practices, a deep dive into tools and resources available to business owners to baseline and track cost saving improvements, and focused content on energy, water, and waste efficiency practices.

“Up to 19 percent of pet care service providers aren’t making a profit, and we think by providing cost saving sustainability education, we can help turn this statistic around” says Carmen, Rustenbeck, CEO and founder, IBPSA.

Sustainable business practices drive value beyond lower utility bills and also include increased employee engagement and improved local reputation. Millennial employees are looking for purpose at work and data shows that they stick around longer and are even willing to take a pay cut to work for a company that addresses corporate responsibility. Businesses with engaged employees also see a boost to customer service and customer loyalty — a highly important success factor for many independent and local operations.

The five-part webinar series happens on Wednesdays beginning April 24, and is available for free for members of IBPSA members. Non-members may register for a fee. To learn more or register for the series visit ibpsa.com/sustainable.
