(PRESS RELEASE) PITTSBURGH, PA — The Dog Stop, the all-inclusive and award-winning dog care brand, is excited to announce its first-ever Cincinnati location. Located at 5164 Kennedy Ave, right off I-71 in the former MadTree Brewing space, the brand-new facility is slated to open its doors this fall, offering a wide range of services to enrich the lives of local dogs and their families.
The Dog Stop Cincinnati Central will host a soft opening on Wednesday, November 5, followed by a community Open House and ribbon cutting with the Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce on Saturday, November 8, from noon to 2 p.m. To celebrate the location’s connection to local history, the original MadTree Brewery beer truck will be on-site for guests to enjoy during the event.
Guests attending the grand opening festivities will be able to tour the facility and have the chance to enter a raffle to win exciting prizes, including one year of free doggie daycare and a free grooming. Pet owners can also explore special pre-sale offers and stay tuned for more details about the celebration on The Dog Stop’s website.
The new location is owned by Mary Beth Schutter, a seasoned Human Resources executive who brings a wealth of strategic leadership experience to The Dog Stop. A graduate of the University of Cincinnati, Schutter has spent much of her career leading Total Rewards and HR functions for large, complex organizations.
Schutter was inspired to bring The Dog Stop to Cincinnati after a personal journey with her own pets. While living in Cleveland and Columbus, Mary Beth found wonderful daycare facilities for her dog Henry. When she returned to Cincinnati, she struggled to find a place Henry enjoyed. Around the same time, she rescued Daisy, a dog who required special care and could not safely be around other dogs. Her experiences and love for dogs inspired her to open The Dog Stop Cincinnati Central, a location that follows the Fear Free approach that prioritizes each dog’s emotional wellbeing.
“I knew both Henry and Daisy needed exercise and attention, but I struggled to find a place that could meet Daisy’s unique needs,” said Schutter. “The Dog Stop stood out because of their highly trained staff, their ability to welcome all dogs, including reactive or senior dogs, and their one-on-one interactive sessions. By following Fear Free principles, which focus on reducing stress, anxiety, and fear while promoting emotional wellbeing, we’re able to give pet parents true peace of mind and provide quality, individualized care.”
Operations will be led by General Manager, Laura Fitzpatrick, who has more than 10 years of experience in the pet care industry. Over the course of her career, Laura has managed facilities to ensure smooth operations and exceptional care. She has also overseen the launch of a new pet store, giving her valuable insight into what it takes to build a successful pet care center. With The Dog Stop, Laura is eager to apply Fear Free strategies, foster trust with local pet owners and strengthen community connections. Also joining the team as Assistant Manager is Sarah McMillan, Mary Beth’s sister, making it a true family venture.
The Cincinnati location will offer 13,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor play space, including five large play areas, with one area exclusively designed for VIP dogs (Very Independent Players) – pups who benefit from a quieter, more private environment with personalized attention from staff. Boarding options include luxury kennels and private VIP kennels located away from other dogs. Luxury and VIP boarding and all play areas are equipped with cameras for owners to check in on their pups.
“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Mary Beth into The Dog Stop family,” said Jesse Coslov, CEO and Co-Founder of The Dog Stop. “Her enthusiasm for dogs, especially those with specific needs, is contagious, and her dedication to creating a safe, fun, and personalized experience for every pup is exactly what makes our brand special. Cincinnati pet parents are about to discover a place where tails wag a little harder, and dogs feel right at home.”
