(PRESS RELEASE) STEVENSVILLE, MD — BAYDOG, a leader in canine adventure gear, announced the launch of its first feline product: the BAYCAT Harness and Leash Set. The new line will debut at Global Pet Expo (March 25–27, Orlando, FL).
Company founder and CEO Barton O’Brien said, “For years people have been putting our Liberty Bay Harness on their cats. They even started a BAYCAT section on our Instagram where people post pictures of cats in our dog harnesses.” But O’Brien took some convincing. “I’ll admit, I was skeptical, but full credit to my team for recognizing the opportunity and convincing me to move forward.”
Unlike adapted dog harnesses, BAYCAT was engineered specifically for feline anatomy and behavior.
Several members of the BAYDOG team are cat owners, and they were instrumental in developing a harness made specifically for cats. “The first step was recognizing that cats aren’t small dogs—they’re flexible, agile, and notorious escape artists,” said Director of Sales Kaci Tucker. “We designed the harness from the ground up to improve fit, comfort, and security.”
Key design features include:
- Modified shape tailored to feline body structure
- Smaller arm openings for improved containment
- Extended torso coverage for added security
- Integrated martingale-style feature to help prevent escape
The BAYCAT Harness and Leash Set will be available in four colors and four sizes, with an MSRP starting at $30.00. Product launch is set for mid-June, but retail buyers can preview the line in person at the Global Pet Expo (booth #2974). Pre-orders will be available starting April 1.
