Catsbury Park Cat Convention Announces Musical Purrr-Formances

(PRESS RELEASE) They move like cagey tigers. Oh, they couldn’t get closer than this. But indie rock supergroup The Love Cats have been tapped to headline the kickoff party on Friday, April 12, 2019 at Asbury Park’s historic The Wonder Bar for Catsbury Park Cat Convention (CPCC). This unconventional cat convention which takes place the weekend of April 13 and 14, 2019 in New Jersey’s iconic seaside town Asbury Park. The first of two music events for CPCC, The Love Cats will be joined by Lil Bub: The Band which consists of Matt Tobey and Lil Bub owner Mike Bridavsky, who channels the finicky musical whims of his magical celebrity cat Lil Bub.

The following evening boasts a fur-midable night featuring Tragedy: All Metal Tribute to the Bee Gees and Beyond with support from elder minx Cougrr for a raucous night of hard rock, big hairballs, and other musical hijinx.

Comprised of members from The Gaslight Anthem / Dead Swords (Alex Levine, guitar/keys), The Loved Ones/The Explosion (Chris Gonzalez, bass), and founder of Catsbury Park DJ Bornschein on guitar and vocals, The Love Cats will be purr-forming a special tribute to legendary post-punk band The Cure at at the special opening night of music.

The Love Cats will be supported by chart-topping Lil BUB: The Band. Inspired by the magical celebrity cat of its namesake, Lil BUB: The Band is led by prolific composer Matt Tobey who telepathically channels Lil Bub’s music. Together, with the help of BUB’s owner Mike Bridavsky, they produced Lil BUB’s 2015 debut LP Science & Magic: A Soundtrack to the Universe (Joyful Noise Recordings), and debuted at the top of several Billboard Charts. Now featuring members of Good Luck, Memory Map, High Spirits, Zuul, and Busman’s Holiday, Lil BUB: The Band is reuniting for a rare performance in Asbury Park to kick-off the Catsbury Park Cat Convention. Due to safety reasons, BUB is unable to join the band on stage, but she conducts the performance telepathically from the comfort of a soft blanket, and their stage performance is accompanied by projected video footage of BUB behind them.

Just one of two nights of music, on Saturday, April 13th, The Wonder Bar will host Tragedy: All Metal Tribute to the Bee Gees and Beyond with special guest NYC’s COUGRR. Self-described as “an over-the-top bombast of Disco, Metal, Glitter and Magic – the #1 Party Band, Tragedy has been surprising audiences who come for the novelty, but leave quite shocked and tickled. Described by Metal Rules as “the greatest heavy-metal-meets-disco party you could possibly wish for,” Tragedy will undoubtedly be scooping up tracks like “Cat Scratch Fever” and other feline-inspired songs for their set.

Originally hailing from Detroit but moving to NYC to get into the music biz,Cougrr a.k.a. “Korby” played the corporate and relationship game for years until cancer struck at 40. Now, she’s taken back control of her life by captivating young men with her scorching rock and her new single “Year of the Cock.” https://iamcougrr.com/home
