President of Chow Hound Pet Supplies Retires

(PRESS RELEASE) GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Chow Hound Pet Supplies has announced the retirement of Greg Keane, its co-founder and president.

“After 30 years it is time for me to move aside and let the next generation take over,” said Keane. “I am retiring with a huge amount of pride in the company Chow Hound has become.”

Chow Hound Pet Supplies was founded in 1989, by Keane and his two brothers, Tyson and Parker. Under Keane’s leadership, Chow Hound Pet Supplies is the largest independently owned pet specialty retailer in Michigan with 12 operating locations in the Grand Rapids and surrounding areas.

Pam Longwell will serve as CEO of Chow Hound and will work with the existing management team consisting of Kevin Williams, vice president of operations and Ryan Mulder, the director of retail operations. Longwell brings nearly 35 years of experience and leadership in the specialty retail industry of premium pet food and supplies.

“Greg has been a true trailblazer in this industry by making a commitment to stocking an exceptional selection of the finest pet foods brands and products,” said Longwell. “He is so well respected amongst the pet supply trade and Chow Hound associates. Greg’s ability to build relationships and focusing on the customer experience is a major contributing factor to the success of Chow Hound Pet Supplies. I look forward to building on his achievements and vision by continuing to deliver a great shopping experience to Chow Hound’s very loyal customer base.”

Keane will maintain an ownership share in the Chow Hound Pet Supplies stores.

“I know that I speak for myself and my brothers when I say that watching Chow Hound grow has been an honor,” said Keane. “We could have never imagined what Chow Hound would become! I leave knowing that the team that myself, Tyson and Parker have built is poised and ready to lead Chow Hound Pet Supplies into the future.”
