Coastal Pet Products Grants 3 Scholarships to Animal Behavior College

(PRESS RELEASE) SANTA CLARITA, CA — Animal Behavior College (ABC) announced that Coastal Pet Products, an Ohio-based innovator, designer and manufacturer of quality pet products, awarded full scholarships to three applicants wishing to attend ABC and become professional dog trainers.

All applicants were required to submit an essay explaining why they wanted to be professional dog trainers and what they planned on doing with their certification after they graduated. Several hundred people submitted essays, and ABC selected the winners in August.

This year’s Coastal Pet Products scholarships are James Bowman, Tracy Conley and Candice Clark. Bowman is a commercial diver and Army veteran who retired from the service after wounds sustained in combat. He has trained dogs for rescue centers. Conley is a teacher who has volunteered for over 15 years at a humane society, and Clark is a probation officer with a Master’s degree in social work, who has worked with service dogs and wants to devote her training career to working with people in need.

“The hardest part of this process was deciding who to select. We had so many fine applicants it took us several months to decide,” said Steven Appelbaum, ABC’s president and director. “I have faith that these three applicants will commit themselves to do exceptionally well in our program, and I look forward to hearing about the pets and people they help as professional dog trainers. Coastal has been wonderful in their genuine commitment to education and their desire to assist those passionate about animals make their dreams of working with and helping them come true.”

When asked about the scholarships, Kim Stout, president of Coastal Pet Products, added, “In a year that saw so many pets find homes, we imagine that this year’s scholarship winners will be busy upon graduation! As long-time supporters of Animal Behavior College, Coastal Pet congratulates scholarship recipients and wishes the best future endeavors for all graduates!”

Animal Behavior College offers numerous animal career courses, including professional dog trainers, veterinary assistants, pet groomers, and cat trainers. They also offer courses for aquatic management and zookeeper assistants. Since the programs combine in-home study with hands-on experience through a nationwide network of mentors, the school has been able to operate without significant challenges even during the Covid pandemic.
