(PRESS RELEASE) HOLMDEL, NJ — Roam Pets, a Pet Sustainability Coalition Accredited Company, announced the appointment of Elsa Zimmerer as its new Head of Sales. A seasoned sales executive with over 30 years of experience in the better-for-you CPG and health & wellness space, Zimmerer is widely known for driving national account growth, leading high-performing teams, and launching successful innovations that have delivered multi-million-dollar gains. She brings deep national account expertise and a proven ability to build and scale sales partnerships with brokers, retailers, and field teams to accelerate distribution of Roam’s novel, ethically sourced pet proteins.
Zimmerer is helping accelerate Roam Pets’ mission to help balance animal populations to protect vulnerable ecosystems and help build more resilient local food systems.
“Joining Roam Pets as Head of Sales is a meaningful next step in my career in better‑for‑you nutrition,” said Zimmerer. “What sets Roam apart is our commitment to sourcing novel proteins that are naturally and humanely raised, and selected with the planet in mind. These snacks aren’t just nutritious for pets — they represent a new level of sustainable pet food innovation. I’m energized to help bring these solutions to pet parents who want healthier options for their animals and a healthier future for our planet.”
Roam Pets focuses on novel proteins such as ostrich, kangaroo, crocodile, and venison, meaning they are proteins not commonly used in conventional pet food, such as beef, chicken, or pork. They are harvested to maintain biodiversity and a thriving ecosystem, without the intensive feed, housing, or input associated with industrial farming, which can result in a fraction of CO₂ emissions of conventional livestock production. According to a 2023 study by the University of Western Australia, wild, free-roaming novel proteins like kangaroo have significantly lower greenhouse gas emissions because they naturally produce very little methane, avoid the intensive feed systems required by farmed livestock, and generally do not require housing, grain cultivation, or routine antibiotic use. As native animals are adapted to their ecosystems, they convert existing low-quality forage into high-quality protein with far fewer lifetime emissions per kilogram of meat than conventionally farmed cattle or sheep.
For example, according to a 2023 report by AgriFutures, cattle generate approximately 12 times more greenhouse gases per kilogram of meat produced compared to kangaroo.
Roam Pets also builds close relationships with small-scale farmers, supporting their growth, and inspiring others to do the same.

“We are thrilled to welcome Elsa to the Roam Pets leadership team,” said Dean Triandafellos, CEO of Roam Pets. “Her track record, passion for building brands, and commitment to better-for-you living align perfectly with our mission. Elsa’s leadership will be instrumental as we continue expanding our national footprint by bringing truly unique proteins to pets and pet parents across the country.”
Based in Colorado, Zimmerer lives an active, better-for-you lifestyle that guides both her work and home life. She and her husband enjoy time outdoors — hiking, mountain biking, fishing, and playing tennis — and she’s a proud mother of three and pet parent of two.
