Patricia Pierce’s interactive session had attendees matching dog breed groups to personality types in a team-building exercise.

She led the session “Packinality in the Workplace: Discover Your Inner Breed and Strengthen Your Team,” where attendees participated in interactive activities throughout the presentation while learning about different personality styles.

The session began with Pierce explaining how understanding the different personalities of the people you work with can lead not only to greater self-awareness but also to an understanding of the unique qualities others bring to a team. Recognizing how different personality types communicate can spark honest conversations, improve relationships and help create a positive workplace culture.

Attendees took a 10-question quiz to determine which group they fell into. Results offer valuable insight into your own habits, strengths and characteristics. Pierce then discussed the strengths, weaknesses and limitations of each group, helping participants better understand different communication styles. This awareness can improve how team members communicate with one another, which helps prevent conflict, emotion-driven discussions, misunderstandings and workplace drama.

Pierce then explored the people skills, thinking styles and work habits associated with each group, sharing real-life examples to illustrate how each type typically behaves and contributes in the workplace.

She explained that weaknesses can be developed and improved, even if they don’t come naturally, as long as you recognize them and make a conscious effort to grow in those areas. She also reminded attendees that while you can’t control what others do, think, say or feel, you can control how you respond and the actions you take.

NASC Media Spotlight

At first it was just an idea: Animal supplements needed the same quality control that human-grade supplements receive. But that was enough to start a movement and an organization —the National Animal Supplement Council — that would be dedicated to establishing a comprehensive path forward for the animal supplements industry. In this Media Spotlight interview, NASC’s president, Bill Bookout, talks to PETS+ interviewer Chloe DiVita about the industry today: Where it’s headed, what’s the latest focus and why it’s vital to gain the involvement of independent pet product retailers.
