P.L.A.Y. Horizon Pillow Bed Desert Lifestyle Image(Press Release) SAN FRANCISCO, CA – P.L.A.Y. (Pet Lifestyle and You) is introducing three new products at Global Pet Expo in Orlando, FL.

The company is adding new Horizon Beds to its awarding-winning bedding collections. Inspired by nature’s deserts, woodlands, seacoasts and lakes, this collection celebrates your dog’s free spirit by transforming Mother Nature’s rich colors into a beautiful motif for your pup to lounge and recharge.

Whether your dog likes to stretch out, curl up or sleep belly up, this new bed collection gives dogs everywhere the option to snooze freely anyway they choose! Designed for heavy paw traffic, this durable fabric incorporates an interlocking woven pattern that provides lasting comfort for your pup as he dreams of his next grand adventure.

“The Horizon Beds were inspired by our love of nature,” says Will Chen, Co-Founder at P.L.A.Y. “This collection utilizes those earthy colors and simple-yet- classic lines to add style to any space, while the woven texture of the fabric adds a touch of ruggedness that would complement a beachside home or cabin in the woods.”

Continuing its mission to design products that are comfy for pets, stylish for owners AND better for our planet, the Horizon Bed Collection is filled with P.L.A.Y.’s signature soft PlanetFill, 100 percent machine washable, and available in four colors and sizes this month online at PetPLAY.com and in local boutiques shortly after. Prices start at $69 for small, $99 for medium, $145 for large and $189 for an extra-large.

The company is also rolling out its new International Classic Toy Collection as an expansion pack to its popular American Classic Toy Collection. This spring, P.L.A.Y. presents eight mouthwatering food-shaped toys to initiate the ultimate food fight between canine and man!

Indulge your pup in a tempting buffet of exotic foods from around the world without upsetting their sensitive tummies! P.L.A.Y.’s new International Classic Toy Collection features three food-shaped favorites including a pretzel, taco and sushi.

Add an entertaining flair to Taco Tuesday by having your pup make his own taco with fun detachable components or let the good times roll over the last pieces of sushi, connected together by a sliding rope, for a fishy game of tug-of-war. Toys will be available individually ranging from $9.90 to $13.90 or in gift box sets for $33.30 this month on PetPlay.com and in local boutiques shortly after.

Who doesn’t enjoy a scrumdiddlyumptious nom once in a while? P.L.A.Y.’s popular American Classic Toy Collection is for the dog foodie in your life! Say goodbye to that Paleo diet and spoil your pup with a good ol’ juicy burger, drumstick, and hot dog with a side of fries. Wash all that greasy goodness down with a milkshake! It won’t be hard to entice your pup’s senses with the funny giggle stick sound in Fluffy’s Fried Chicken, cool detachable components in the Barky Burger and Hot Diggy Dog and amusing crinkle paper found in the Frenchie Fries. Toys are available on PetPlay.com individually ranging from $7.90 to $14.90 or in gift box sets for $49.90 on PetPlay.com, as well as in local boutiques.

“Playing with your food is always a good idea and now we’ve made all of your favorite foods dog-friendly,” said Associate Sales Director Lisa Hisamune. “The best part is these toys challenge your furry friend during playtime by introducing new sounds, detachable pieces and stretchable parts.”

In line with our award-winning toys, both plush toy collections are eco-friendly and stuffed with P.L.A.Y.’s certified-safe PlanetFill filling made from 100 percent post-consumer recycled plastic bottles. For easy cleaning, they are washer and dryer friendly.

And the firm is releasing a fiercely cute Safari Toy Collection that lets dogs test their boundaries and roar with excitement at playtime. This new fur-rocious toy set featuring wildlife creatures in the shape of a zebra, lion, giraffe, elephant and crocodile.

These cuddly companions will stand out against the pack not only in their mighty size, but with their unique sounding supersized squeakers! Unlike P.L.A.Y.’s previous toy collections, these animal-shaped toys house larger, more durable squeakers that omit different sounds to surprise and engage dogs for hours of rambunctious fun. In addition to louder squeaks, prepare for some extra tugging fun with Fido as each toy features sliding hind limbs that are sure to satisfy your furry king or queen!

“Playtime is the best part of a dog’s day and should be a fun experience for both two and four-legged friends,” said Office Manager and Controller Jan Corder. “We decided to let our imaginations run free with this new collection, so you’ll find features that can’t be found in any other toys we’ve created like the adjustable limbs made of high-tensile strength cotton rope to support interactive play.”

In line with P.L.A.Y.’s continued commitment to helping animals in need, 2 percent of the purchase price of the Safari Toy Collection will benefit the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW). All plush toys feature eco-friendly stuffing and AZO-free dyes, while being 100 percent washer and dryer friendly.

Toys will be available individually at $14.90 each or in a gift box set at $69.00 this month on PetPlay.com and in local boutiques shortly after.

As PSI’s 2020 Pet Sitter of the Year, Crockett will serve as the “face of the professional pet-sitting industry” throughout 2020 and will be officially crowned at PSI’s 2020 Pet Sitter World Educational Conference in October.

“From the beginning, PSI helped me mold my business, and this award will allow me to give back to my colleagues,” said Crockett. “Pet Sitter of the Year is not just an award; it comes with the responsibility to share my knowledge and to support the members of PSI and our industry as we all strive to be respected professionals.”

Crockett joined PSI in 2009, nearly three years before officially opening Crockett’s Critter Care in 2012. Since that time, she has grown her business by leaps and bounds. Her company now employs six staff sitters and serves approximately 115 households. Crockett has also focused on furthering her education in the pet industry — obtaining her Certified Professional Pet Sitter designation from PSI and her Level 3 status in the Fear Free program, as well as completing the Infectious Disease Management Program.

Despite a busy pet-sitting schedule, Crockett is committed to her local pet community. Since 2002 she has been active in the local rescue community, volunteering for Fran’s Felines, Pals for Paws, and Colonial Capital Humane Society. She has served as an officer, board member, fundraiser, event coordinator, grant writer, newsletter editor, foster parent, and more. After Hurricane Florence, Crockett volunteered to walk the dogs stranded at the shelter as they waited to be reunited with their pet parents. Now she continues to support the local rescue groups by posting adoptable pets on her Facebook page, encouraging people to adopt a shelter pet, and promoting the need to donate locally to support the shelters.

The other top-five finalists in the 2020 Pet Sitter of the Year competition were:

  • Caraline Brockman, CPPS; Cara Care LLC; Chicago, IL
  • Shannon Huskins, CPPS; Paws & Purrs Feline Services; Marietta, GA
  • Cynthia Johnson; Copy Cat & Dog Care Pet Sitting; Lebanon, OH
  • Kim Ottone Tank, CPPS; Apronstrings Pet Sitting; Pollock Pines, CA

(PRESS RELEASE) Merrick Pet Care joined the GivingTuesday movement by matching donations made to its longtime partner, K9s For Warriors. The charitable organization helps veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder find the support and comfort they need by pairing them with a service dog that has been rescued from a high-kill shelter.

Merrick will double all donations made to K9s For Warriors on GivingTuesday (up to $50,000). All funds raised will help support K9s for Warriors’ efforts to train rescue dogs and empower veterans to return to civilian life with dignity and independence. Donations can be made on the K9s For Warriors website.

“Our financial supporters save two lives with one act of kindness — a shelter dog that’s running out of time and a warrior struggling with PTSD,” said Rory Diamond, chief executive officer for K9s For Warriors. “And, thanks to the generosity of our partners at Merrick Pet Care, we are able to double the impact of every GivingTuesday donation.”

Since 2015, Merrick has been the exclusive dog food partner for K9s For Warriors, providing each rescued service dog with all their meals and treats while in training. The company has donated more than $1 million in food and monetary donations to K9s For Warriors in support of the programs and clinical research that provide service dogs to help heal veterans.

“Dogs have a special ability to not only understand us, but also help us find strength when we need it most,” said Tim Simonds, chief executive officer for Merrick Pet Care. “We’re honored to partner with K9s For Warriors to help our hardworking veterans find the unconditional love they deserve in a true best friend — a service dog.”

(PRESS RELEASE) The holiday season can be particularly difficult for military personnel, especially those deployed overseas away from their home and families, including their dogs. DOGTV has partnered with Dogs on Deployment for #GivingTuesday and throughout the month of December to help give peace of mind, concerning their pets, to military members.

This month, DOGTV will give $10 to Dogs on Deployment for every new subscription beginning on #GivingTuesday or you can also give by donating directly to Dogs on Deployment. Visit dogtv.com/givingtuesday and use the code: GivingTuesday to get started. Your donations help Dogs on Deployment achieve their mission to find volunteer boarders willing to care for military pets and promote pet-owner responsibility by providing financial resources for military members to give care for their pets during times of need.

DOGTV also created video greeting cards for several of the dogs in the care of Dogs on Deployment foster homes.

“We’re hoping to brighten the day of our military personnel that can’t make it home to share the holiday this year with their beloved dogs,” stated Beke Lubeach, DOGTV general manager. “We’re excited to partner with Dogs on Deployment this holiday season to help generate awareness and funds for the great work they do all year long.”

Dogs on Deployment is a national nonprofit providing a central network for military members to find volunteers willing to board their pets while they are deployed or have other service commitments, making them unable to temporarily care for their pets. No pet should ever be surrendered to a shelter due to a military commitment. Dogs on Deployment exists to help military members keep their pets by alleviating the need for pet relinquishment from military members due to the hardships of deployments.

DOGTV is the only technology created specifically for dogs to help them relax and to entertain them when their pet parents have to leave the home and leave their dogs home alone. The sights and sounds that DOGTV provides enriches the dogs’ environment and allows them to experience happy stimulation and relaxation. Over 1 million happy dogs love and trust DOGTV every day.

DOGTV is currently available through DIRECTV, DISH, Comcast Xfinity, COX, RCN, Apple TV, Chromecast, Amazon FireTV, Roku, and as an iOS and Android app.
