WALNUT CREEK, CA — Central Garden & Pet Company (NASDAQ: CENT), a producer of branded products for the lawn and garden and pet supplies markets, announced that it has purchased K&H Manufacturing, a producer of pet supplies and the largest marketer of heated pet products in the country.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The offerings of K&H, which sells branded pet products under the K&H and K&H Pets names, span several categories, including dog and cat, small animal and farm and ranch.
The 20-year-old K&H’s patented heating products, as well as products with cooling and other thermal properties, are a strategic fit with Central Garden & Pet’s portfolio, according to a press release.
“K&H has exhibited an excellent history of growth, and we are excited to work with the K&H management team, who will be staying with the business, to help it continue to flourish in the years ahead,” said George Roeth, president and CEO of Central Garden & Pet. “Central and K&H have a shared passion for bringing consumers high quality, innovative, value-added products that help pet owners give their pets a more comfortable and caring environment. Together, we can continue to grow the category and develop exciting new products.”
Central Garden & Pet reported net sales of $569.9 million in its fiscal second quarter, which ended March 25. That was up 5.3 percent from $541.2 million in the same quarter a year ago.
