In a release on Tuesday, Pure Treats Inc, makers of PureBites, announced it has agreed to acquire Primal Pet Foods from Kinderhook Industries.
MONTREAL, Quebec, Canada, Feb 17th, 2026 – Pure Treats Inc. (“PureBites”) and its leading brands of dog & cat treats and toppers has agreed to acquire Primal Pet Foods (“Primal”) from Kinderhook Industries, including its premier manufacturing facilities in Abilene, Texas and Montrose, Colorado.

Primal was founded in 2001 by Matt Koss who pioneered the core principle of bringing simple, pure ingredients that are minimally processed for peak nutrition to pets. Similarly, PureBites was founded in 2005 by Barry and Marc Cathcart under a very comparable vision. In 2020 Kinderhook Industries purchased Primal.
