The redesigned ScratchLadder features three-rungs of interchangeable panels to provide any cat with variations of scratching surfaces they can enjoy. A variety of scratching surfaces includes pile carpet, sisal carpet, catnip filled cushions, wood, and more. In addition, there is now a new space in the back of the ScratchLadder to store additional panels when the cat is ready to change up its scratching surface.
Goronkin was inspired to create ScratchLadder by his own furry friend, Milo Fwancis. After watching Milo scratch at every wooden surface in the house, he designed a ladder made from wood and placed them everywhere Milo liked to scratch. Once seeing how much he loved the ladder, the idea of adding interchangeable panels with a variety of surfaces grew from there. The ScratchLadder is handmade from high quality materials and is produced and shipped by Pine Ridge Industries, a division of the Schenectady ARC. The Schenectady ARC is a chapter of The Arc New York, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Approximately 80% of the disabled population is under or unemployed. Scratch Play Meow chose to partner with Pine Ridge Industries because of their strong capabilities in light assembly and order fulfilment and as a way provide opportunities for the disabled community.
