(PRESS RELEASE) MIAMI, FL — Wynwood Dog Food Co., the leading fresh dog food brand specializing in balanced and prescription diets that deliver measurable health improvements, announced plans to open a new 13,000-square-foot production facility in Miami’s Allapattah neighborhood. The new factory marks a major milestone for the company as it prepares for national expansion and continues to redefine what’s possible in fresh, therapeutic pet nutrition.

Set to open in early 2027, the facility represents a significant expansion from Wynwood’s current 3,000-square-foot Wynwood production facility. It is designed to boost annual fresh food production to $30 million while maintaining the company’s commitment to safety, transparency, and quality. The new space will support the rapid growth of Wynwood’s FRESH RX line of prescription diets and its Complete & Balanced everyday meals.

“Pet parents are done settling for ultra-processed prescription food. They want something better for when their dog is sick, but the industry keeps looking the other way,” said Michael O’Rourke, CEO and Co-Founder of Wynwood Dog Food Co. “This new space gives us the ability to do things differently and grow on our terms, while partnering with veterinary clinics across the nation.”

Wynwood currently produces every meal in-house—never through a co-packer or anonymous facility—and has built its reputation around science-based formulation and full transparency. The company’s tagline, “Built on science, not buzzwords,” reflects its mission to deliver substance over hype. Following the launch of its first national advertising campaign, Wynwood has seen month-over-month revenue growth of more than 7%, outpacing internal targets and signaling strong national demand for its fresh, prescription-quality diets.

Designed with transparency in mind, the new Allapattah facility will include a dedicated viewing area where customers and veterinarians can observe much of the production process without entering the clean zone. Wynwood also plans to feature a live feed of its production area on its website—part of its ongoing commitment to open and honest manufacturing practices.

Founded in 2015 by Michael O’Rourke and his family, Wynwood Dog Food Co. has evolved from a family-founded venture into a national leader in fresh and prescription dog food. As the company expands production, it continues to invest in the Miami community, with the new facility expected to create new jobs beyond its current 40-person team.

“We started small, stayed profitable, and earned trust without advertising through veterinary recommendations,” O’Rourke added. “Now, with our new facility and first national campaign, we’re ready to be the leader in fresh prescription dog food.”

NASC Media Spotlight

At first it was just an idea: Animal supplements needed the same quality control that human-grade supplements receive. But that was enough to start a movement and an organization —the National Animal Supplement Council — that would be dedicated to establishing a comprehensive path forward for the animal supplements industry. In this Media Spotlight interview, NASC’s president, Bill Bookout, talks to PETS+ interviewer Chloe DiVita about the industry today: Where it’s headed, what’s the latest focus and why it’s vital to gain the involvement of independent pet product retailers.
