No wonder it launched its own pet-product brand.

Perhaps it was inevitable that Amazon would launch its own pet-product brand. The company is apparently a bit dog-obsessed.

As many as 6,000 dogs can be found at Amazon headquarters in Seattle on any given workday, the company writes on its blog.

Amazon states that “bring-your-dog-to-work day is every day.”

“It’s truly ingrained in our company culture,” said Lara Hirschfield, manager of the company’s Woof Pack. “Our employees love bringing their dogs to work and love meeting their co-workers’ dogs.”

There are many dog amenities around the Amazon campus, such as designated canine relief areas and poop bag stations. In one building, “there’s a doggie deck — complete with a fake fire hydrant — where dogs can can run around,” according to Amazon.

Amazon has just launched its own pet product brand called Wag. For now the only product available is dry dog food, but it’s expected that other products will eventually be sold under the label.

In this Media Spotlight interview, NASC’s president, Bill Bookout, talks to PETS+ interviewer Chloe DiVita about the industry today: Where it’s headed, what’s the latest focus and why it’s vital to gain the involvement of independent pet product retailers.
