BrightPet Nutrition Group Launches Brand for Indies

(PRESS RELEASE) BrightPet Nutrition Group, maker of natural, super-premium pet food brands including Blackwood and Adirondack, has launched its By Nature line of dog and cat food with nutrient-rich formulas in sustainable packaging to support independent retail chains nationwide. By Nature Pet Food is also produced at BrightPet-owned facilities.

The new By Nature line “was created using an advanced nutritional blend of premium proteins, superfood ingredients and probiotics called SUPERFUSION,” according to the company. Recipes include goji berry, ginger, taurine, turmeric, apple cider vinegar, chicory root extract, kelp, pumpkin, spinach, blueberries, fava beans and coconut oil. This combination of super foods boosts pets’ immune systems and provides antioxidants that are good for the eyes, kidney and liver. These ingredients also improve body and brain function, provide anti-inflammatory benefits, help prevent heart disease, improve digestion, help with balancing glandular functioning and enhances the animal’s skin and coat.

“We’re launching our By Nature assortment for pet parents who want a simple and effective approach to supporting their pets’ health with nutrition and flavors that only nature can provide,” said Matthew Golladay, president of the Ohio-based BrightPet Nutrition Group. “Through holistic nutrition, By Nature helps pets get the most out of each meal so they can live the healthiest and fullest life possible.”

“Our eight stores in Brooklyn, New York are excited to carry these By Nature formulas exclusively in our area,” said George DiGuido, owner of NYC Pet. “The development of By Nature proves BrightPet understands today’s challenges of independent retail chains. The bright, information-rich packaging helps consumers select the correct formula without the need of a sales associate. With better margins than we’ve seen in years, By Nature is the obvious solution for us and other independent pet specialty stores.”

BrightPet is offering independent retailers exclusive access to By Nature for a minimum period of 12 years. The line will not be available through online, big-box or large chain retail outlets.

The By Nature line features four dog recipes and two indoor cat food recipes. Both cat recipes and three of the four dog recipes are grain free and do not contain potatoes as an ingredient. The new formulas include:

Dog

  • Turkey & Duck Meal (All Life Stages)
  • Lamb & Turkey Meal (All Life Stages)
  • Salmon & Menhaden Fish Meal (All Life Stages)
  • Chicken Meal & Turkey Meal with Brown Rice (All Life Stages)

Cat

  • Chicken & Turkey Meal (All Life Stages)
  • Salmon & Menhaden Fish Meal (All Life Stages)

All of the dog food recipes, with the exception of the Chicken & Turkey Meal, are available in 4, 11 and 24-pound bags. The Chicken & Turkey Meal formula will be sold in 44-pound bags. The two cat food offerings are available in 3.5 and 11-pound bags. All of the bags are resealable and sustainable. In the coming months, freeze-dried treats and canned food will be added to complete the line.

By Nature’s packaging also was designed with nature in mind. The resealable bags are made with BioFlex, a sustainable material that biodegrades within the managed lifetime of modern landfills to create landfill gasses that will be used to supply energy to the power grid.

“For more than 40 years, our family has been dedicated to doing what’s best for our customers, and this new offering is no exception,” Golladay said. “We’re proud our facilities produce pet food for more than 40 brands and are among the few that are EU and organic in the nation. With By Nature, we want to ensure our retail partners earn an appropriate return for their investment as we build the brand nationwide.”
