(PRESS RELEASE) BOULDER, CO – Retailers have an opportunity to accelerate the adoption of environmental and social practices from brands and suppliers eager to meet growing consumer demand for sustainable products. A successful retailer and brand relationship require a mutual understanding of priorities. The Pet Sustainability Coalition’s Meet The Buyer Series serves as a platform for a two-way conversation where retailers can efficiently find vetted, high-performing sustainable brands that have differentiating impact stories while also sharing their unique retailer perspective.

The four-part series looks to encourage continuous environmental and social improvement from brands looking to meet retailer expectations and educate brands and suppliers about the role sustainability plays in the product selection process. Given the series emphasis on connecting values-driven retailers with accredited sustainable brands, Pets+ Magazine will partner with PSC over the next months and sponsor the series.

The first of the four-part series will occur on September 29 at 11 am MST. The virtual event will feature Mud Bay as its first retail guest. In the first half of the event, members of Mud Bay’s merchandising and purchasing teams will share how sustainability plays a role in their product selection process. The event will conclude with a few selected top 20 companies—Bark Potty, Chews Happiness, and PolkaDog Bakery—pitching their sustainability missions and initiatives to Mud Bay’s merchandising team.

The Meet the Buyer series’ remaining events will occur in December 2020, January 2021, and March 2021. Each event will feature retailers redefining the pet retail landscape to be more inclusive and innovative.

All brands and manufacturers are welcome to register for Tuesday’s via this link. If you are a values-driven retailer ready to showcase your values and impact in an upcoming event and connect with trust-worthy innovative brands, contact Sarah Hutcherson, PSC’s Accreditation Manager, at

NASC Media Spotlight

At first it was just an idea: Animal supplements needed the same quality control that human-grade supplements receive. But that was enough to start a movement and an organization —the National Animal Supplement Council — that would be dedicated to establishing a comprehensive path forward for the animal supplements industry. In this Media Spotlight interview, NASC’s president, Bill Bookout, talks to PETS+ interviewer Chloe DiVita about the industry today: Where it’s headed, what’s the latest focus and why it’s vital to gain the involvement of independent pet product retailers.
