(PRESS RELEASE) WASHINGTON, DC– The Pet Food Institute (PFI), whose members make the vast majority of dog and cat food and treats in the United States, promoted two staff members. Pat Tovey was promoted to vice president of scientific and regulatory affairs, and Dana Waters was promoted to Manager of International Affairs

Pat Tovey, who has been with PFI for almost 13 years, provides policy direction and leadership on regulatory and food safety issues. He will continue to manage PFI’s Regulatory Affairs Committee, as well as the AAFCO, Product Safety and Ingredient Subcommittees, and also coordinate a yearly food safety sharing session for PFI members. Pat earned a bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory sciences and technology from Michigan State University.

Dana Waters joined PFI over a year ago, as a policy analyst. Her primary responsibilities as manager of international affairs will be managing the international trade subcommittee and all international issues, including providing import/export service assistance to PFI members. Dana holds a bachelor’s degree in political science with a concentration in international affairs from Georgia State University.

“These promotions are well deserved,” said President & CEO Dana Brooks. “With food safety as PFI’s main priority and international trade in U.S. pet food growing at a rapid pace, these staff members consistently work hard to provide exemplary service to our members and the pet food industry.”
