(PRESS RELEASE) ORLANDO, FL — Solid Gold, America’s first holistic pet food brand, is celebrating 50 years of being a leader in gut health for dogs and cats. From its bold beginnings in the 70s to the bright future ahead, Solid Gold has changed the way pets are nourished inside and out starting with the gut.

Drawing on her inspiration to unlock the secrets of the premium pet food she was seeing in Europe in the 1970s, Solid Gold’s founder Sissy McGill set out to create the best nutritional foundation of food for her dogs, and from that pioneering spirit she created the brand’s first recipe, Hund-N-Flocken, which was unlike any other product on the market at the time and ultimately launched the holistic pet food category in America.

Solid Gold revolutionized the pet food industry with SeaMeal, a kelp-based supplement supporting dogs’ skin, coat, digestive, and immune health. After decades of premium gut health foods for dogs and cats, Solid Gold then introduced green beef tripe, creating the Green Cow recipe for picky eaters and sensitive stomachs, which gained a “cult following” in the independent pet food market. The brand remains at the forefront of innovation through continued research and development, such as the launch of nutrientboost, a proprietary blend that is veterinarian-recommended for gut health and nutrient absorption[1].

Global family nutrition company H&H Group acquired Solid Gold in 2020, significantly marking the Group’s strategic expansion into pet health and wellness to grow the Group’s offering into three pillars: Adult Nutrition and Care, Baby Nutrition and Care & Pet Nutrition and Care.
