Spectrum Brands’ Stan Owens Joins Pet Partners’ Board

He brings over 30 years of experience in the pet industry.

(PRESS RELEASE) Pet Partners, the nation’s leading organization registering therapy animals for animal-assisted interventions, welcomes Stan Owens, division vice president of U.S. sales for Spectrum Brands’ Global Pet Care, to its board of directors.

“As an experienced business leader with over 30 years of experience in the pet industry, Stan’s expertise in sales and marketing, business planning, and operations management will bring great value to our board,” said Annie Peters, president and CEO of Pet Partners.

Pet Partners is the leader in improving human health and well-being through the human-animal bond, registering nine species of animals with their human handlers as therapy animal teams. Pet Partners teams make more than three million visits per year in hospitals, nursing homes, schools, libraries, airports, and at employee wellness events. Pet Partners also advocates for legislation that promotes human health and well-being through its grassroots advocacy program and educates handlers and the public about the positive impact of animal-assisted interventions.

Owens joined Spectrum Brands in 1993. In addition to his current position as DVP, Owens has held other leadership roles within the company including retail sales specialist and regional sales manager for Marineland, DVP of sales for United Pet Group, and DVP of pet specialty sales. Prior to joining Spectrum Brands, Owens was employed with Super Pets where he managed several pet retail superstores.

“I firmly believe that pets are a part of the family and they contribute to the well-being of people,” Owens said. “I am proud to join the Pet Partners board and help those without a pet experience the healing power of therapy animals.”

Owens received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from California State University, Northridge. In addition to Pet Partners, he holds board seats on the Pet Leadership Council and the Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council. Owens lives in Southern California with his wife Erika, daughter Savannah, and son Cade.
